Luck

A character may become Lucky.

You can track this with a green poker chip or via the checkbox on the Character Sheet.

NPCs can be Lucky as well, and usually are if they come prepared.

Gaining Luck

Luck is awarded at the GM's discretion for:

  • Heroic deeds
  • Overcoming perils
  • Exceptional or fun roleplaying
  • Playing out a Flaw, leading to substantial problems
  • Favor by the gods (blessings, sacrifice)
  • Other special in-game occurrences

Awarding Luck to an already Lucky character immediately burns it. (The character stays Lucky.)

When Luck is awarded for group activities, or for minor challenges, the GM may decide to have each participating character roll the dice to decide if he gains Luck.

Conversely, for particularly great deeds, Luck may be awarded multiple times over (thereby burning some of it).

Spending Luck

Luck can be spent at the player's discretion at any time.

He may choose to:

  • Reroll any DR of his or damage roll against him
  • Flip the sign of any DR of his or damage roll against him (e.g. -4 becomes +4)
  • Have a "lucky coincidence" happen (free-form, subject to GM approval)

Burning Luck

Each time a character burns Luck, roll a d6. On a 6, he gains 1 XP.

Luck is burned immediately:

  • upon entering Downtime
  • when awarded to an already Lucky character

Although Luck must be burnt at the end of each adventure (Downtime), characters may keep it in-between playing sessions covering the same adventure.
